WHAT IS CBD?
CBD, short for Cannabidiol is a chemical compound of the cannabis plant. It is non-psychoactive, meaning it won’t get you high.
You may have heard of the strain “Charlotte’s Web” which was developed for a young girl named Charlotte who was born with Dravet syndrome. By age three Charlotte was suffering from 300 grand mal seizures per week despite treatment. While traditional prescription medication did little to help Charlotte, what did help was Cannabidiol. In 2011 a strain of hemp was developed in Charlotte’s name that contained high amounts of CBD and minimal amounts of THC, so that the tot would receive the medicinal benefits of the plant without the high. By using CBD to treat her disorder, Charlotte’s seizures dropped to 4 per month.
Cannabidiol continues to gain more and more attention for its wide range of medicinal benefits. Preclinical trials over the past four decades have found that Cannabidiol shows promise as an:
- anti-tumoral agent
While CBD is found in marijuana, we obtain it from the highest quality hemp grown in the U.S., making it legal in all 50 states.
